I restrict myself to using this rarely, but if a big thought comes its conveint to just. to write it out. I usually will avoid politics, but I feel I will say something, because it has some importance, I am not ranting just for the sake of it; but to promote a positive change (winning arguments are great, but honestly, the best thing I could think of is to not at all have something like this which I disagree with at all existing, and just having it stop be fine).
A lot of people on my f-list are 'associated' with wolves, and as a animal I guess I consider them to be a favorite and liked animal of mine (they are something I think is just good for a ecosystem wither its just athestetic appearance or ecological balance).
Anyway, someone out their knows about the whole Alaska wolf management/cull thing going on, which if you look at history has been going on for a while for questionable reasons, cited as a reason that past harsh winters are a reason for it, but if that was the reason then harsh winters have been around for 30+ years? Which I guess means that its far north so of course the winters will be cold, considering rising temperatures the winters should be more mild.
The recent stuff started with another governor, and was pretty much handed down to and continued by the current governor, who was a presidential candidate (some political relevance). For this issue alone I hate them, the others are by comparison illrelevent. Might wonder why is this my business, why you think that’s important?
1. I am an American, what goes on in my country is my business, and this is a democracy (if I were to disagree with something with China it would be somewhat out of my jurisdiction to change policies because I am not a citizen of the country, and it is not a democracy)
2. Wildlife is a national treasure that’s wealth that cannot be measured, and suppases any idols and monuments constructed by man.
3. I don't agree with the person in general, but the other stuff by comparison in the election and outside of it is relatively insignificant, some slander and usual politics, bridges to nowhere and junk; words and money in my mind are relatively insignificant to life which is not ours to take or judge
4. Wolves are not a endangered species on the whole of the planet, and are not as threatened as others, it would still be good to respect them and not only care for them or other species of animals until they are imperiled! For more imperiled species around the world, I fail to see how disregarding the lives of wild natural predators such as wolves here will help any endangered species in America or outside. The whole disregarding of lives of animals and general ignorance is a lot of what is at the root of the many problems of many species. If we don't care for the ones here, then can we expect people from abroad to behave any differently? And for Alaska the conservation for the animal is simple, no reintroduction or anything just keep what they got and don’t cull them and they do fine, don't need to be feed by nobody and can do it themselves; it cost no money, but to do weird culls do cost money to have.
So that pretty much it, for that I hate the person for that reason, not much else reason to hate another for unless it important and killing is one of them. The person is quite ignorant of a lot of science and biology not just about wolves, but a point could be made that a ignorance of things so simple like predator prey relationships and the importance of natural predators, ecological history and climate change, concepts that can be taught in elementary school, and brushed up on in high school. Even the littlest bits of science, while easy to know, lacking knowledge on some of the most basic things can lead to some pretty bad consequences. Nothing good can come from ignorance.
And other point, while some might think "well good she lost" "I hope she gets a wart" or "fuck you Palin", I guess for the reasons of wildlife conservation and other issues, good not having that person and ideas in charge, still what I don't like is still going on. I could say a f-you to the person, but why? Is hating for the sake of it going to really make things better?
As much as I hate the person, I think it would be better that instead they change and things become better for everyone. That they change on this one weird and important issue. A example and idea is that I myself have secretly tried to sway the person persuasively and positively (no 'f-u's in my letter).
Hating for the sake of it gets nowhere and only promotes more conflict, and personally (I am not a perfect person and can get roused by passions/biases), my standard is that I will not hate someone unless they kill what I cherish deliberately. Which I think is a good standard, the importance of life and nature outsides all else.
Anyway, some person who tried to add me as a friend seemed to have blown up or something before I could add them back (and another seems to be imploding), so yea.... stop doing that, if you can.
